The European Structural Funds – How is the money spent?

The European Structural Funds consists of the Regional Development Fund and the Social Fund. From 2014-2020, The Regional Development Fund and the Social Fund have a total of 3 billion DKK from EU combined, which goes to e.g. innovation, entrepreneurship, green economy and education in Denmark. In this campaign, you can see some examples of how the money is spent for the benefit of people all over the country.

The campaign is centred around six videos which explain the purpose of the European Structural Funds and also illustrate how the money is spent in various parts of Denmark.

Northern Jutland

Per Højbjerre from Aalborg is the manager of the company NB Ventilation. In Northern Jutland, Per and around 100 other private companies have received funding from the Regional Development Fund to reduce their CO2 emission.

Central Jutland

Through the project Rummelig Imidt, which Stefan Brix Sørensen from Herning participated in, unemployed people have received help to re-enter or get closer to the labour market. For Stefan, who was unemployed for a year after sick leave, participating in the project led to his dream job.

A total of 336 people has participated in the initiative in Central Jutland, which help unemployed people get closer to the labour market. The initiative is co-funded by the European Social Fund. For 113 people – including Stefan – it has led to a real job.

Southern Jutland and Funen

Nicole Sophie Christiansen from Odense works at Lorenz Technology, making software for drones. With funding from the European Regional Development Fund, they have developed a product, which makes drones even more intelligent based on artificial intelligence.

Zealand

Claus Ankjærgaard, together with Johannes and Lars, are partners in Chymeia, a company that develops solutions for chemical management. Chymeia's growth has accelerated with funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

In total, 122 companies on the island of Zealand have received funding, which has created both jobs and increased revenue.

Greater Copenhagen

Annabel Voller from Hvidovre runs the company Biking People, which organizes biking holidays in Denmark. She has been part of an entrepreneurial program funded by the European Social Fund. Along with 1765 others, Annabel has been given advice in entrepreneurship.

Bornholm

The European Structural Funds make a big difference to many citizens on the island of Bornholm. For example, a total of 73 companies on the island have received funding from the European Regional Development Fund to develop new products.

Richard Ditlev Jørgensen and his butcher´s shop is one of them - he has developed new products for new markets.
